A holster made by “Bad Bob” Meldrum sits atop a book with Meldrum’s prison photo at the Museum of Northwest Colorado. While serving as marshal around Baggs, Wyo., Meldrum fatally shot Chick Bowen, an area cowboy, in 1912. Meldrum was imprisoned for the crime.
A pair of chaps made by “Bad Bob” Meldrum sits on display at the Museum of Northwest Colorado. In the background is a photograph taken of him while he was working as a guard for Telluride mine workers in the early 1900s. Meldrum’s career included stints as a Pinkerton agent, marshal, union strikebreaker and range detective. His life and exploits are featured in a new book about Colorado’s history of outlaws.
Nine residents at Sunset Meadows were honored earlier this month during a “Nifty 90s” party. The party included, fittingly, about 90 of the residents’ family and friends.

Bubba Ivers, a Moffat County High School junior, drops back to pass during practice. Ivers started at quarterback last season as a sophomore, and he hopes to lead his team to the playoffs in his second year at the helm.
The Moffat County High School varsity football teams lines up in goal-line offense Aug. 24 on the MCHS practice field. The Bulldogs are returning seven starters on both sides of the ball as the team hopes to upend Glenwood Springs and Palisade at the top of the Western Slope League.
Garrett Spears, a Moffat County High School senior, blew out is knee last year and missed the first six games of the season. The offensive/defensive lineman said he’s recovered from the injury and ready to help his team push for a playoff berth.
Brenna Ciesco, a Moffat County High School sophomore, placed 34th in last year’s 4A state meet and is the MCHS varsity cross-country team’s top returning girl.
Four Moffat County High School cross-country runners practice at MCHS. The boys and girls teams both won the 4A regional meet last season, and with 14 returning runners this season, head coach Todd Trapp said both teams have a good chance to repeat.
Alfredo Lebron, a Moffat County High School senior, leads the way during an MCHS varsity cross-country team practice. Lebron, who placed fourth in last year’s 4A state meet, is the top returning senior boy in 4A this season.
