Congressman Scott Tipton, R-Cortez, will be in Craig Wednesday to thank voters for their support during the November general election. The three-stop Craig tour begins with a “coffee with Congressman Tipton” event from 8 to 9 a.m. Wednesday at Cool Water Grille, 337 W. Victory Way. Coffee, tea and Danish will be served.
Rep. Scott Tipton, of Colorado’s Third Congressional District, which includes Moffat County, voted in favor Friday of the Budget Control Act of 2011, otherwise known as the “Boehner Plan.” “Washington doesn’t have a revenue problem, it has a spending problem,” Tipton said in a video news release. “It is time for Washington to do what the people of Craig do everyday — live within our means,” he added later.
Possible legislation could provide windfall to Moffat County
Moffat County Commissioner Tom Gray said he is optimistic recent federal legislative activity surrounding an oil shale development issue near the Roan Plateau could land the county anywhere from $1 million to $2.5 million. “The take home message is don’t give up hope because we haven’t,” the commissioner said. “And obviously Congressman (Scott) Tipton hasn’t.”
