Shannan Koucherik and Arloa Gerber prepare Sunday to work on the one-room schoolhouse in Lay. Kourcherik and Gerber are members of the Augusta Wallihan Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, which recently purchased the schoolhouse for $10. The group plans to open a museum on the site in the future.
