Craig Fire/Rescue officials examine the truck's interior through the front windshield, which they knocked out to get to the driver. Craig Police Department officers arrested local resident Scott Adam Smith, 19, in connection with the crash. Smith was booked into Moffat County Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence, careless driving and illegal possession/consumption of alcohol by a minor. Police officials said Smith was driving south on Barclay Street at a "high rate of speed" when he ran the stop sign at the Victory Way intersection and broadsided the pickup as it traveled west on the highway.
Lieutenant Steve Lingo, with Craig Fire/Rescue, tries to comfort Baby, a 2-year-old Akbash, after rescue workers extricated the dog from a wrecked pickup Tuesday night on Victory Way. Because of the force of the collision, the truck spun 180 degrees and landed on its side. The truck's driver and her dog had to be helped out of the vehicle by emergency workers, but neither were badly injured and both walked away from the accident.
