A crowd gathered during last year's Memorial Day service at Craig Cemetery. This year's service, hosted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4265, American Legion Post 62 and the Sons of the American Legion, begins at 11 a.m. Monday. It is open to anyone wishing to pay their respects to veterans.
Josh Wilson, of Warrior Freestyle Extreme Stunt Shows performs Sunday at the Moffat County Fairgrounds. Wilson, from Fort Worth, Texas, is in his first year of competition.
At the dining room table of Bill and Dona Shue, at left, the Tea Party Patriots of Northwest Colorado meet together for the second time. The other three are, from left, Rob Schmitzer, Patrick Germond and Rick Barnes. The group plans to host a public meeting June 5 at a location to be determined. Dona said she plans to start a Web site for the group at <a href="http://www.nwcoloteapartypatriots.org">www.nwcoloteapartypatriots.org</a>.
Moffat County Alternative High School students and staff held their end-of-year picnic Friday at Craig City Park. Karen Chaney, a teacher, and two aides, Judy Espinoza and Jessica Sherwood, celebrated nine graduates this year.
Brooke and Avrial sit at City Park. Brooke's high school career was a challenge because she had Avrial early in life, but today, the MCHS graduate-to-be is happy she finished school. She will attend Colorado Northwestern Community College in the fall.
Brooke Behrman, 17, and her daughter, 16-month-old Avrial Graisyn Hankins, play Friday night at the north end of City Park. Brooke, a Moffat County High School senior, will graduate from the high school today.
Dalton Sirk casts his ballot with other Craig Intermediate School students Thursday morning. Students voted for a new elementary school name. The name with the most votes will be presented Thursday to the Moffat County School Board.
The Moffat County High School FFA Chapter has wrapped up several events recently, including the Oyster Fry and Project Sale as well as the State FFA Judging Contest. New officers also were chosen. They are, from left, Nate Moon, Alisha Camp, Amanda Ellgen, Karissa Manetois, Taelor Stagner and Jessica Wiseman.

Corey Bruce intends to attend Colorado Northwestern Community College and study power plant technologies.
Corey Bruce, shown with his parents, Kristie and Michael, will be the first person in his family to graduate from high school. The family is seated around a Honda Fourtrax that Corey and Michael rebuilt together.
Jesse Breslin, who will graduate from Moffat County High School today, will be speaking with eighth- grade students May 26 to share his high school experience. He will talk to the students about the importance of taking grades seriously and planning for college early in high school.
Zimmerman cleans a hide Wednesday using a machine he calls "The Slimer" at Crazy 3 Tannery. Zimmerman built "The Slimer" himself, as well as everything other machine in the tannery. "Everything was built by hand and is done by hand," he said.
Pelts are hung above vats containing a pickling agent they are soaked in. The pelts later are dripped and then tanned.
