Craig Middle School eighth-graders spent half their day Tuesday picking up trash around Craig as a way of giving back to the community. Christalin Thompson leads a class Tuesday evening at Zumba Fitness. Thompson led seven individuals during the hour-long class, which is a mix of Central and South American dances, such as merengue, reggaeton and salsa.

Christalin Thompson, 22, opened Zumba Fitness at 29 W. Victory Way for its first class May 12. Thompson, a single mother who is self-employed for the first time, said she partially was motivated to open her own business so she could spend more time with her 2-year-old son, Riley.
