Moffat County High School outfielder Erick Leonard connects with a pitch last season against Delta. The Bulldogs opened the 2009 season Friday in Montrose with a doubleheader against Alamosa and the host Indians.
Bernie, a black and white collie-Dingo mix, was adopted on the Front Range to work cows. However, she didn't become a worker, but rather a nurturer, even to the unlikeliest of animals.

Nurse April Branstetter talks Wednesday about the Specialized TeleHealth system the VA TeleHealth Clinic in Craig uses. The system earned the local clinic a place in an upcoming documentary. It uses an encrypted signal, allowing patients in Craig to communicate with doctors in Grand Junction via video.
Dorothe Shivington pets Mei Ling on Wednesday in her room at Sandrock Ridge Care & Rehab. Patty Thompson, the dog's owner, said a lot of the people she visits say holding Mei Ling is like holding a living stuffed toy because she's so soft.
