To help raise money for the Bird family, Dr. Carolyn Gochee is selling sponsorships for her race car, including space for individuals to write the names of cancer survivors or those who have died from the disease. For $25, a name can be written on the car.
Gochee last raced her car at the Hayden Speedway in 2005 but decided to bring the "Pink Fury" out of retirement. The early 1970s VW Bug has a 1.9 liter engine and packs 100 horsepower.
Dr. Carolyn Gochee, of Craig, has decided to begin racing again at Hayden Speedway to raise money and awareness for Craig resident Sherry Bird. Bird was diagnosed with breast cancer, and Gochee hopes to raise money from winning the race to help Bird offset medical costs.
