Marc Leier will retire after tonight's "Rampage in the Cage." The 39-year-old oil field worker said he wants to retire to spend more time with his family.
More than 100 people showed up to watch more than 15 wiener dog competitors race at the Moffat County Fairgrounds. At the end of the day, Maddy, a 9-year-old dachshund, was named top dog.

Colorado brand inspectors Daren Clever and Brad Ocker, right, inspect a trailer Friday along Colorado Highway 13 a few miles south of Craig. The pair set up a checkpoint with Gary Nichols, Moffat County Sheriff's Office deputy, and stopped all vehicles with animal trailers to check livestock brands and other legal files. Ocker and Nichols are investigating suspected livestock thefts in northern Moffat County and plan to set up at least one road checkpoint each month through the fall.

The Colorado Department of Education announced 2009 Colorado Student Assessment Program scores Friday. Moffat County showed a growth level slightly less than that of the rest of the state and proficiency varying from 20 percent to more than 60 percent, depending on the subject.

Marc Leier, 39, started cage fighting in 2007. He said that if the sport had been popular when he was younger, he would have dedicated more of his life to the sport. Tonight, he will compete in his last fight during the "Rampage in the Cage" event at the Moffat County Ice Arena.
Sunny Breeze Farm creates about nine different types of cheeses from sheep's milk, but they also sell milk-based soap, lamb's meat and some pork. The Petres sell their products at farmers markets and on their Web site, www.sunnybreezefarm.com.
Joel Petre places feta in molds after being separated from whey. The feta will sit in the molds during the night and then be packaged with brine. It must age for 60 days before the family can sell it.
