Medrano removes a lure Saturday while fishing at Elkhead. Elkhead was the Western Bass Anglers' last tournament before its two-day championships in Flaming Gorge, Utah.

Alex Medrano Sr., president of the Western Bass Anglers, fishes Saturday morning at Elkhead Reservoir during the group's home tournament. Medrano placed third Saturday, the first day of the two-day tournament, and second Sunday. Steve Drake placed first Saturday, and Steve Brusig placed first Sunday.

Part of the road to Elkhead Reservoir slid off the hillside it's built on earlier this year, reducing about 50 feet of the road to one lane for both directions of traffic.
