Veterans and their families were treated to a spaghetti dinner Saturday night as thanks for serving their country. The local Elks Lodge, which hosted the dinner, is seeking to offer the event annually.
A single place setting was left empty Saturday night to honor missing soldiers who never returned home. On the plate, the salt symbolizes tears shed, and the lemon symbolizes the sour taste left when a fallen comrade doesn't return home.

First Congregational United Church of Christ's original location was at Tucker and Victory Way, but on Aug. 26, 1959, the church moved to 630 Green St. The congregation celebrated its 50th anniversary at the current location Sunday with a potluck and barbecue.
Madeleine Vail designs and creates quilts for income and pleasure. Quilting provides an important creative and social outlet and also gives her something to look forward to, she said.
