Beth and Tom Gilchrist were named Volunteers of the Year by Moffat County United Way, Moffat County and the city of Craig on Thursday at its annual volunteer awards luncheon. County Commissioner Tom Gray also presented eight other residents with awards for serving several years on local volunteer boards.
Maxine Howe gives blood Thursday at the 9News Health Fair senior blood draw at Sunset Meadows II. The blood draw is used for a blood chemistry test that yields more than 30 indicators, including sodium and potassium levels, among many others. "I come every year," Howe said. "I think I've missed once in 18 years."

Ed Wilkinson served about 18 years in the military, first with the U.S. Army and then the Army National Guard. He said he's always been proud to be a soldier, and he is glad to now have an opportunity after retirement to help his fellow veterans.
Ed Wilkinson, shown with his dog Oakley at his home on Knez Divide, was named the new Moffat County Veterans Service Officer. Wilkinson, a U.S. Army and Army National Guard veteran, will replace Bill Harding on June 1.
