Deb Nicholas-Olson, the Craig Telehealth clinic administrator, was seriously injured in a two-vehicle auto accident Saturday north of Rifle and is in the intensive care unit at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction. Please send a card to her c/o ICU, St. Mary's, 2635 N. 7th St., Grand Junction, CO 81502. A full recovery is anticipated, but it will require a long rehabilitation period.

Veterans Hotline: Traumatic brain injury database to be developed

The National Guard is developing a method to track soldiers who have been exposed to blasts in Iraq or Afghanistan. The effort will allow soldiers who might develop problems years later to show how many times they were in the vicinity of a mortar round explosion, improvised explosive device detonation or other blast.

The U.S. Postal Service recommends sendnig mail to troops ASAP. All Holiday mail for troops in Iraq and Afghanistan should be mailed by Dec. 4 to arrive before Christmas. The USPS is running articles in the Daily Press "Local" feature regarding their services and deadlines. Read them and comply so our young service men and women know that public support still exists for their sacrifices in our behalf.

Veterans Hotline: Looking for WWII veterans, sponsors for honor flights

GRAND JUNCTION - WWII Veterans of Western Colorado are now one step closer to visiting their long-awaited WWII Memorial in Washington, D.C., thanks to a group of patriotic citizens in Grand Junction. The Honor Flight Network Headquarters announced the formation of a new hub, Western Slope Honor Flight. The mission of Honor Flight is to transport America's veterans to Washington, D.C., to visit those memorials dedicated to honor their service and the ultimate sacrifices of their friends. The goal of Western Slope Honor Flight is to make this dream a reality for local members of "The Greatest Generation" who have waited so long for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
