Hayden Police Chief Ray Birch is serving his second tour in Iraq with the Air Force Reserves. He has been in the country since summer and expects to return in February.

The Colorado Northwestern Community College men's and women's basketball teams begin nonconference play Nov. 5 against Central Wyoming. The Spartans, based in Rangely, play in the Scenic West Athletic Conference. CNCC begins league play Jan. 9 at home against the College of Southern Idaho.

The sisters were born and raised in Craig and have voted in every election since 1945, when their father told them to register and encouraged them to take advantage of what he called their "God-given right."
