Daily Press reader Chuck Mack recently took a drive down State Highway 40 to the road that goes out to Elkhead Dam and on to California Park. There, he and his wife saw a show of colors that made them stop and take pictures. "The autumn colors seemed to be poking along not in any hurry to change. Then all of a sudden like an explosion everything burst forth and the mountain sides are absolutely breathtaking," Chuck Mack said.
