Qwest Communications is offering to donate 1 percent of the monthly bills accrued by qualifying residential customers to public schools. The program is open to customers who use electronic billing and automatic withdrawal. The money will pay for technology use in schools. Customers can designate which school district the money will benefit.

Linda Pinnt quilts one of the pink quilts Wednesday in her home. Pinnt has been quilting for about 20 years and started making the pink quilts last year when her son's companion found out she had cancer.
