Calving season varies from ranch to ranch. Above, the Gilmar Ranch in the Williams Fork and Hamilton area raises Hereford cattle. There, the calving season begins in February.
Patt McCaffrey stands inside the train depot in Craig, which recently was put on Colorado’s Most Endangered Places list. The depot, which was built in 1917 as the final stop for the Moffat rail line but hasn’t been in use for 40 years, has been plagued with vandals in recent years.
Moffat County High School assistant principal Thom Schnellinger holds some of the various tobacco products confiscated at the school. The school has recorded 18 tobacco possession violations this year. Seven of those violations were for snuff, contained in square, silver cans.
