Patient Sharon Higgs lies on a Thompson Table on Tuesday as chiropractor Craig Rummel tends to her. Rummel said that individual maladies determine the level of care required.
Lifelong interest
Dr. Craig Rummel, of Rummel Chiropractic located at 333 E. Victory Way, has been practicing chiropractic care since 1985. He said he became interested in chiropractics as a child when his mother began suffering from migraines. A chiropractor helped alleviate her symptoms, which sparked a lifelong interest in the field. "We're looking at the biomechanical function," he said, "or the way the body moves." Chiropractors treat a broad swath of ailments, analyzing the spine and muscular skeletal systems, which can affect other systems because of problems with the nerves. "I study the structure of the body," Rummel said. "Basically, I'm giving it a tune-up."
