Bailey Kurz competes Saturday in the 100-meter freestyle during the Rangely Invite. Kurz was one of the 15 Sea Sharks swimmers who qualified for the summer swimming club postseason.
Ken Davis of Montrose was off to a fast start on his carving at the first day of the Whittle the Wood Rendezvous at City Park on Wednesday. He said he returned to the competition after missing a year to spend time with his grandchildren. This year he is carving a young cowboy.

An excavator begins tearing down a wall on the south wing of Craig Middle School on Tuesday. The 60-year-old building is being demolished to make way for a new school that will be built around the existing auditorium, gym and industrial arts facilities.
A heavy equipment operator goes to work on the Craig Middle School building Tuesday. The Neenan Company crews are scheduled to continue demolition on the building through July 4, project superintendent Doug Young said.
