One of the first homes on Russell Street was owned by “Bob” Bryan. It is shown here as it looked during the 1890s. The apartment building at 615 Russell St. now occupies this location.
A portrait of “Bob” Bryan taken in about 1916 when he was mayor of Craig. After working odd jobs throughout Colorado, Bryan married and originally settled in the Yampa Valley in July 1885. After living in other towns for a few years and losing his wife to typhoid, Bryan returned with his daughters to the valley and built a house in Craig.
Moffat County won a tight game, 71-69, against visiting Palisade. Chayton Owens led Moffat County with 29 points. James Stewart scored 22 in the loss for Palisade. Moffat County (6-12 overall, 5-5 Western Slope League) hosts Delta today. With the loss, Palisade drops to 11-6 overall, 5-4 WSL. See Monday’s Craig Daily Press for the complete report.

Bob Rogers nails a brace to the newly placed wall frame. As each new frame is placed, a system of braces keeps them in place.
Matt Wheeler nails fire blocks into a wall frame. The blocks are to stop airflow through the wall in case of fire.
The plans show the south face of the building, which also will be the front. The building will stand 43 feet out of the ground and will be the largest building in Craig, Griffith said.

A partially melted headlight hangs from the frame of Turner’s 85th Anniversary Special Harley-Davidson Ultra Classic Electra Glide. The motorcycle was one of 150 the company manufactured.
Books burned in Turner’s shop fire lie near one of his three vintage trucks. Turner had been restoring the vehicles for nearly 10 years.
Del Turner holds a Christmas ornament his mother gave him more than 20 years ago. The ornament was one of the few items Turner and his wife, April, saved from the fire that destroyed their shop, visible in the background.

The two were standing in line Friday at the VFW in Craig to purchase tickets for the annual Kiwanis play. Tickets went on sale Friday, and the play is slated for March 7 and 8. Doug Wagoner has brought an animal each year for people in line to sign since 2005.
