Routt County residents Joe and Suzette Brumleve, pictured here in an undated photo, fell in love with the Yampa Valley and its Western lifestyle. All three of their adult children and their two grandchildren also call Steamboat Springs home. The Brumleves died Monday in a plane crash in rural Moffat County.
Yampa Valley Regional Airport passengers check in with their airlines Tuesday. Airport officials reported on-time arrivals and departures one day after a downed single-engine airplane raised concerns about the airport's landing system.
Pictured is the light display at 2033 Wheatridge, on Thompson Hill, south of Craig. To get there, turn right at the tanks before the landfill, turn right on Aiken and left on Wheatridge.
Second place went to Dave and Tammie Johannes for their house at 1125 County Road 30. To get there, take C.R. 30 about one mile to the top of the hill, near the water tank.

Gabbert's home, at 11327 County Road 103, is covered in as many lights as his house's electric capacity can handle, and the light show is set to music broadcast on a radio station around his home. To get there, travel north on Colo. Highway 13 to mile marker 105. Shortly after is a left turn for C.R. 103. The lit-up house - and 30-foot Christmas tree with a star on top - is visible from the highway.
The Moffat County girls swim team practices in its home pool last season. The Bulldogs recorded several season-best times Saturday in Grand Junction and are preparing to do the same Jan. 3 in their lone home meet of the season.

Craig Police Department Captain Jerry DeLong has been living his childhood dream of being a police officer for 23 years. He rose from the ranks as a street patrolman to second-in-command, which includes supervising department records and investigations.
Jean Selan, 60, worries about the world. In Craig, though, she has found a place she and her husband want to spend the rest of their lives.
At right, Tinneal and Wade Gerber help their oldest son, Tyler, 12, left, with his math homework on a Thursday evening. Tyler's brother, Kearn, 10, is also at the table. When the boys aren't busy with schoolwork, they help out with the family's horses and livestock. Kearn is the only one in the family who can reach one older horse. Tinneal remarked it's amazing how close the two are, and it's that kind of connection that makes her love animals.
Bad Axe Custom Cycles owner Jesse McAvoy is following his dream. The former Craig police officer owns the only Harley Davidson shop within 100 miles of Craig.
Craig resident Betty Rice holds up a picture of her husband, Ken, and two sons, Dan, 35, and Brian, 33. Rice, a resident at Sandrock Ridge Care & Rehab, was a foster mother to 38 foster children during a period of about 12 years.
From right, Amanda Kenney, 35, hugs her girlfriend, Tavara Seals, 28, as the two shop during the holiday season. Kenney and Seals agreed that Craig has been a great place for them to live because of the job opportunities and because residents don't judge them for superficial reasons.
