A section of ground, located between Crest Drive and Sixth Street (to the north and south) and Finley Lane and Ledford Street (to the west and east) is holding up the completion of a trail, because the owner is unknown. The finished trail, which will travel from the Ridgeview subdivision to Sunset Elementary School, has been approved for funding by state and federal agencies. However, that funding will not be released until ownership has been determined and the city has proof of the rights to use the land for the trail.

Colorado Northwestern Community College recently presented two $500 Joanne Gerow Memorial Scholarships to Level I nursing students. The money from the Joanne Gerow Foundation can be used for educational and living expenses. Pictured are the recipients, Joanne Webster and Cathy Kmetz. About the scholarships: Joanne Gerow was a practical nursing student who died in 2005. The memorial scholarship was set up in her name for nursing students because she often sent "Thank You" notes to the staff nurses who worked with her in the hospital. She frequently expressed her appreciation for the opportunity to attend the nursing program to achieve her second career goal of becoming a nurse.
