Moffat County Jail inmate Carlo Roche, from the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe near Reno, Nev., works in the garage on bikes confiscated by local law enforcement and never reclaimed. Parts for the bikes are purchased at cost from J&R Cyclery using the inmate welfare account, made up of funds generated through the jail commissary.
Cliff Richardson, 57, of Craig, estimates he spends about six hours a day, Monday through Friday, working on bikes with other inmates. Recently, 15 bikes were sent to the Owyhee tribe near Elko, Nev., and another 10 to the KRAI/55 Holiday Drive.
Duane Randall, 36, from the Sioux tribe of Nevada, works on bikes at the Moffat County Public Safety Center. Randall is among several inmates who are refurbishing bikes that will be donated to children locally and on Native American reservations.
Dena Wardlow takes inventory at her store. She said she keeps on hand everything people might need for their pets, and if she doesn't have something, it can be ordered. "We have all kinds of goodies," she said.

Holiday spirit is in the air Tuesday night, as French horn player Chris Griffin dons a Santa hat during the Moffat County High School Concert Band's winter concert. Several other band members also wore holiday-themed hats and headbands, some featuring reindeer antlers.
Students at the Alternative School volunteered Wednesday at the KRAI Holiday Drive as a service project. The baton flies as director John Bolton leads the Eighth Grade Concert Band, from Craig Middle School, in "The Parade of the Bumbling Wooden Soldiers" on Tuesday night in the Moffat County High School auditorium. The Moffat County High School Concert Band, CMS Seventh Grade Concert Band and CMS Eighth Grade Jazz Ensemble also performed at the concert.
