A Moffat County Sheriff's Office Wildland Fire Crew member stands atop a slash woodpile, defending the wood behind him by spraying down the blaze's edges. By late Tuesday afternoon, firefighters attempted to isolate the fire by using bulldozers and heavy trucks to move woodpiles. "Wind is a primary factor," Sheriff Tim Jantz said. "This slash pile has a honeycomb system. The wind is blowing through and underneath the wood and spreading the fire all over. It could burn for weeks." Firefighting crews, with help from Butler, continued to battle the fire late Tuesday afternoon.

Moffat County Sheriff's Office Wildland Fire Crew members hose down the Butler Ranch Wood Products grinder. The wood grinder caught fire Tuesday morning at Butler Ranch, a mill operation northwest of Craig on Moffat County Road 106. The fire ignited sawdust and slash woodpiles nearby. Mike Butler, who operates the mill, said the grinder was "completely engulfed" in flames when he first saw the fire about 10 a.m.

Brandi May Gourley was last seen Monday at Moffat County High School, her family reported, and may be on her way to New Mexico. She is described as 5-foot-1, 130 to 135 pounds, with brown eyes and red and black hair.
