Tim Hafey, left, is the Moffat County baseball coach, Kip Hafey, right, is the Moffat County football coach, and Steve Hafey has been an official for 40 years and the "Voice of the Bulldogs" on the local radio station for 20 years. Each Hafey was a two-sport college athlete. As adults, they have taken their skills and influenced hundreds of Craig youths each year.
A stream of students fills the main staircase at Moffat County High School. On Monday, the Parent Accountability Committee is scheduled to meet, allowing parents and school officials to discuss issues pertinent to parents and students.
Mike Taylor stands near the Craig Middle School breaker box, located between the administration office, the student cafeteria, the cardio gym and a classroom, which makes it a highly congested area. Although in an emergency there is quick access, the breakers are dead-bolted for safety.
Norm Yoast, Craig Middle School science teacher, works at his computer in his classroom. The sink in the room is broken, and Yoast has a current order in for repairs. The gas lines in the middle school rotted out about 20 years ago, and Yoast has to use hand-held propane torches for science experiments.
Glass block windows are used throughout the building. The blocks are bad for insulation, said Mike Taylor, Moffat County School District facilities director. Many of the blocks are broken and are difficult to repair or replace.
