Downtown Craig reached the 100-degree mark by 2:30 p.m. Sunday, according to First National Bank of the Rockies’ thermometer. High temperatures, a lack of rain and the approaching Fourth of July holiday have fire officials warning people to be careful with fire in the coming days.
A Sunday afternoon swim in the Yampa River resulted in tragedy for 13-year-old Karen Valdez. The Stephenville, Texas, resident was reported missing after she fell into the river, and was found dead Monday morning. She was found 50 feet past where she was last seen.
