Charles (Chuck) David Locke was born November 18, 1947 to George Henry Locke and Marjorie Adelaide (Schneider) Locke in Grand Junction, Colorado.
Chuck attended Whitman Elementary, Riverside Elementary, Appleton Elementary, Grand Junction Junior High, and graduated from Grand Junction High School in 1966. Chuck joined the US Army in January 1967 and was discharged in August 1969. He served on the Korean DMZ with the Survey Section of Headquarters Battery of Second Division Artillery. Chuck was discharged at the rank of Sergeant E-5. Chuck married Janet Louise Holmes in July 1970 and they had two sons: Air Force Colonel Joseph W. Locke (1973) and Adam N. Locke (1976) Chuck attended Mesa State Junior College earning an AAS Degree in Civil Engineering Technology in 1973. Throughout the rest of his life, Chuck worked for various engineering and construction companies using his vast knowledge and skill to create quality projects around the world. Most recently, he retired from Civil Design Consultants in Steamboat Springs after more than 20 years of dedicated service. In his spare time he could be found working on various Boards helping young people or trying to better the community around him. Chuck's hobbies included hunting, fishing, camping, rock hunting and cutting, building something that someone needed, or lending a helping hand. Chuck was diagnosed with Appendiceal Cancer in September of 2012, which he valiantly fought for 2 ½ years. He was preceded in death by his father, George H. Locke, and brother, Richard L. Locke. Chuck is survived by his Mother, Marjorie Locke; his Wife, Janet L. Locke; sisters Barbara (Roger) Maddox, Debra (Wes) Darnell, Donna (Tim) Kennedy and a brother, Kenneth (Carol) Locke; and his two sons, Joe (Erin) Locke and Adam Locke. He has 4 grandchildren Carson, Jessica, Garrett, and Lila. A Celebration of Life will be held this summer.
