Thelma Busselle Moore Bell

Thelma was born August 8. 1920, in Bovina, CO, to Joe and Marie Busselle, and passed away Feb 3, 2015, in Steamboat, CO. Her mother died when she was 6 months old, so was raised by her aunt until the age of six. Her father, a Rock Island depot agent, brought her and brother, J.B. to Norton, Kansas, where she graduated from high school. Thelma then attended Colorado Women's College and graduated in 1940, with a business degree. After working a short time for the federal government, she married John G. Moore on April 12, 1941, brother to her college roommate, Norma Moore. The two worked in sawmill camps in Deer Trail and Green Ridge for John's grandfather, Herb Moore. When World War II broke out, they moved to Hiawatha, Utah, to work in a coal mine, where two children were born, Virginia, (Ginni), and John E. They moved to Yampa, Colorado, in 1952, where Linda joined the family in 1953. While John worked in mining and ranching, Thelma worked as a reporter to the Steamboat Pilot, and secretary to superintendents' at the SOROCO school system. John passed away in 1979, and Thelma continued the ranch enterprises, and worked at the Routt County Clerk's office. After meeting Wal Bell, a widower from Australia, they were married in Nov. 1987. Traveling between Australia and Oak Creek, fulfilled Thelma's desire to see the world, which she treasured very much. Wal passed away in 2000, and Thelma continued to travel until 2008, when she settled in Oak Creek for good. Playing bridge and visiting with her friends and family fulfilled her life until she suffered poor health. Thelma played piano and organ for church, wedding, and funeral services for many years.
She is survived by her daughter, Ginni Steele (Reg) of Mt. Gambier, So Aus.; son, John Moore (Jennifer) of Pine Haven, WY, daughter Linda Lamb (Tom) of Jackson, WY; stepsons and daughters, Kate Hayne (Ed) Yampa, CO, John Bell (Robyn) of Bairnsdale, Victoria, Jenny Holcombe (Brian) of Bendigo, Victoria, Aus., and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many friends in USA & Australia. A memorial will be posted at a later date in June, 2015. Burial will be in the Yampa Cemetery.
