Hazel Hulstine

Hazel Frances Dodge Hulstine died on April 4, 2014 at Sandrock Care and Rehabilitation Center in Craig. She was 92.
Hazel was born July 28, 1921 to George Russell and Frances Ida Dodge in Anderson, Indiana. She was the youngest of three children, and the only daughter. Hazel met Gene Hulstine in 1952, and the couple was married in Cincinnati, Ohio on February 21, 1953.
Sons, Russell and Mark were born into this union. Over the years, Gene and Hazel made their home in Indianapolis, Indiana, Oakland, New Jersey and Ponca City, Oklahoma before relocating to Battlement Mesa, Colorado in 1990. Several years after her husband, Gene, passed away in 2002, health issues led to Hazel's relocation to Craig in May 2006.
Throughout her life, Hazel was active in the P.T.A., Cub Scouts, and church groups where she filled volunteer committee positions as well as taught adult Sunday School classes for more than 25 years. She was a great conversationalist, who never met a stranger. Her love for and interest in people allowed Hazel to collect friends wherever she lived. She maintained many of these friendships throughout her lifetime.
She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and her husband. She is survived by son Russell (Mikaela) Hulstine of Bartlesville, OK, and son Mark (Bonnie) Hulstine of Craig, Colorado, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
A memorial service is planned for 11:00 AM, Tuesday, June 10th, at the Grand Valley United Methodist Church in Parachute, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, a memorial gift can be made in Hazel's honor to the Grand Valley United Methodist Church, 132 North Parachute, P. O. Box 125, Parachute, CO 81635.
