Troy Madsen passed away June 26, 2013. Troy was born in Richfield, Utah, on Dec. 9, 1975. He grew up and attended schools in Hanna, Wyo., graduating from Hanna Elk Mountain High School in 1994. A few months later Troy, married Heather on Aug. 20, 1994, in Green River, Wyo. They made their home in Craig and welcomed daughter Jysten in 1997 and son Takoda in 2000. Troy was an underground coal miner in Colorado for 16 years, achieving many records for high production and quality that he maintained throughout his accomplished career. Troy and his family moved to Billings, Mont., and he began a new and rewarding career at General Distributing Company, where he loved the work, challenges and family-oriented environment. Troy put 110 percent into anything he did, doing it in the right way and helping anyone he could. Troy enjoyed spending time with his family, camping and fishing. Troy will be missed by many people.
Troy is survived by his wife, Heather Madsen; daughter Jysten; son Takoda; parents, Craig and Barbara Madsen and Cheryl Harrison; brothers Charlie Hall, Hooter (Jackie) Hall and Dale King; sister Arshelle Spencer; grandfather Jim Blackburn; grandmother Nola Madsen; parents-in-law Larry and Berni Keller; brothers-in-law Travis Conklin and Michael (Shelly) Conklin; sister-in-law Nicole Liggett; and grandmothers-in-law Leona Washburn and Pat Feurt.
The celebration of Troy's life was held at 10:30 a.m. July 2, 2013, at Faith Chapel in Billings with a luncheon following the service. Arrangements were handled by Smith Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials to Troy's children Jysten and Takoda Madsen be sent in care of First Interstate Bank, attention Sara Mains, 401 N. 31st St., P.O. Box 30918, Billings, MT 59116-0918. The Madsen family would like to thank the Bliss family, of General Distributing Company, for its support.
