Carol Buchanan

Carol Lynne Eberle Buchanan was born June 27, 1944, in Craig, the youngest daughter of Bill and Adeline (Short) Eberle. Carol was raised in Craig and attended Craig schools through the eighth grade before completing high school at Campion Academy in Loveland. After graduation she attended Union College in Lincoln, Neb.
In 1968, Carol married Gary Buchanan. To this union two children were born, Shannon in 1969 and Brett in 1970. Gary and Carol later divorced. Carol remained in Craig and began her career as a receptionist. Her career spanned more than 30 years, including time at Public Health, the city of Craig and Craig Medical Center. Carol also began selling Mary Kay Cosmetics in 1984 and enjoyed making others feel beautiful.
Carol was very active in the Seventh Day Adventist Church and enjoyed leading song service and teaching small children. Carol began singing with the Campion Academy choir in high school. Throughout her life, she enjoyed singing for various functions and was active in Sweet Adelines for many years, where she was known as the little lady with the deep voice.
Carol loved spending time with friends and was a proud member of the Bodacious Babes Red Hat Society. Carol also loved her time with family. This included taking care of her older sister in California and spending as much time as possible with her grandchildren.
Carol died March 29, 2013, in Steamboat Springs after a courageous fight with a brief illness. She was 68.
Carol is survived by her daughter, Shannon Buchanan (Joe Pickering), of Craig; son, Brett Buchanan (Angela), of Yelm Wash.; sister, Sharon Barker, of California; and five grandchildren, Bretta, Colton, Crayton, Devyn and Ariana. Carol was also an aunt and great-aunt to numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Adeline Eberle; and her sisters Peggy Eberle and Patricia Tucker.
Services for Carol were held April 6, 2013, at the Craig SDA Church. Pallbearers included Wade Gerber, David Siminoe, Joe Pickering, Jeff Hershiser, Joe Ence and Trent Told. Honorary pallbearers were her grandchildren. Interment followed at Craig Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Museum of Northwest Colorado, the Craig SDA Church, or Campion Academy, all in care of Grant Mortuary.
Carol was a vibrant, fun-loving person with a sparkle in her eye, beautiful smile and infectious laugh for those around her. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
