Judith Ann Christensen

Judith Ann Ertel was born July 13, 1940, in Newark, N.J., the daughter of William and Rosalyn (Mitschke) Ertel.
Judy was raised and attended school in Newark and following high school attended Ocean County Community College in Point Pleasant, N.J., where she obtained her RN degree.
Judy married George West in 1959 and to this union three sons were born. They were later divorced.
Judy moved to Colorado in the early 1970s, and worked at St. Joseph Hospital in Denver.
She later moved to Steamboat Springs and then Craig, where she was employed by The Memorial Hospital for more than 30 years, retiring in 2004.
Judy married Tim Christensen on Dec. 14, 2004, in Craig. Judy enjoyed traveling with Tim and did so whenever they were able. She was a longtime supporter of the Special Olympics Program and SPCA.
Judy was a scuba diver. She loved to deep sea fish and snorkel, but her greatest love was reading.
Judy died Monday, May 21, 2012, at her home.
She was 71.
She is survived by her husband, Tim Christensen, of Craig; sons Shawn West and wife Kennetta Otis, of Craig, Kelly West, of Point Pleasant, N.J., and George West, of Queens, N.Y.; grandchildren Sara Schonert, Alyson West, and Shawn Robert West II; great-grandchildren Raelynn, Scarlett and Kaitlin Schonert, and Felicity Otis; stepchildren Becky Christensen, of Vail, T.J. Christensen, of Arvada, Earl (Ellie) Christensen, of Boulder, and Elizabeth Morris, of Montrose; and step-grandchildren Caleb Christensen, Brian, Gary, Makayla Otis, Ananda, Eryk and Annie Morris.
Mass of Christian burial was Friday, May 25, 2012, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Craig with Father James Fox officiating. Interment followed in Craig Cemetery.
