Montie E Burgess

Montie E. Burgess was born June 14, 1929, in Craig, the daughter of Murl and Alta (Talkington) Prather.
She was raised and attended school in Craig, graduating from Moffat County High School in 1947.
Montie married Donald Grounds on May 14, 1948, in Craig, and they became the parents of three daughters: Donna, Mikeque and Whitni. They made their home in Craig until moving to the Front Range.
She and Don later divorced.
Montie married Frank Burgess in 1970 in Sterling, and they moved to Craig in the early 1980s.
Montie was a homemaker and enjoyed her flowers, gardening, music, dancing, playing cards, cooking and being outdoors. She was very family-oriented and enjoyed the many family gatherings with her children and extended family.
She was a member of Rebekah Lodge and Craig Christian Church.
Montie died Sunday, March 25, 2012, at Sandrock Ridge Care Center. She was 82.
She is survived by her daughters, Donna (Tom) Deakins and Whitni (Scott) Reid, both of Craig, and Mikeque Read, of Greeley; grandchildren Matt (Katie) Read, of Windsor, Mandy (Dale) Ramesar, of Polson, Mont., Kelby (Brittni) Virden, of Alexander, N.D., Brady Virden, of Craig, Abbie Reid, of Craig, Brice Reid, of Savery, Wyo., and Shandy and Cody Deakins, of Craig; numerous great-grandchildren; sister Florence VanTassel, of Craig; brother Lyle (Diane) Prather, of Craig; stepchildren Doug (Marie) Burgess, Jerry (Miriam) Burgess, Diane (Tom) Zaia, Robert (Rita) Burgess, and Michael (Sandy) Burgess; and numerous other relatives.
Montie was preceded in death by her parents; sister Edna Paulson; and brothers Keith, Lawrence and Kenneth Prather.
Cremation has taken place and memorial services were Monday April 2, 2012, at Craig Christian Church with Mervin Johnson officiating.
