Edith Lee

Edith Lorene Lee passed away Aug. 2, 2011, in Meeker at age 92 after a 10-year struggle with Alzheimer's disease.
She was born Dec. 28, 1918, in Maysville, Okla., to Floyd Phillip Harper and Georgia Ellen Johnson. She was one of 13 children. She is survived by one sister, Delores Allen, of Hayden; and one brother, Donald (Dorothy), of Salem, Ore.
She graduated high school in Craig. Her early childhood was spent in Oklahoma and Texas. 
Lorene was married to William Lee in Craig on March 29, 1940. They lived in the coal mining town of Mt. Harris and later in Hayden. She worked at the Hayden Mercantile for many years, and also at Merit Drug. She was an excellent seamstress who enjoyed crocheting and quilting and spending time with family.
She is survived by two daughters, Marlyn Ary, of Meeker, and Barbara Kowach, of Craig; five grandchildren, Robert Ary, Brenda Green, Eugene Ary, Scott Sis and Matt Sis; four step-grandchildren, Jimmy Kowach, Rodney Kowach, CJ Kowach and Shyanne Peterson; seven great-grandchildren, Tim Green, Amanda Anderson, Robert Ary, Misty Rippy, Max Ary, Samy Ary and Grant Sis; seven step-great-grandchildren, Brianna, Mariah, Ben and Sam Kowach, Taylor Ovenden, and Kylee and Lucas Peterson; three great-great-granddaughters, Hayley and Jenna Rippy and Charlee Ary; three step-great-great-granddaughters, Victoria, Laynee and Kassandra Simth; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held Aug. 9 at the Hayden Congregational Church with Janet Babish officiating. Interment followed in the Hayden Cemetery next to her late husband William.
