Luana De “DeDe” Bugay

Luana De "DeDe" Bugay was born Jan. 19, 1962, in Hayden to Maryann and Ronnie Bugay. She died June 25, 2011, in Craig.
DeDe spent her formative years in Hayden, graduating from Hayden High in 1980. DeDe enjoyed and excelled at playing basketball during her school years. She was selected for the all-conference team in her junior and senior years of high school.
After graduating high school, DeDe attended cosmetology school in Grand Junction. Upon completion of school, she owned and operated a beauty shop with her partner, Tami Rolando.
DeDe loved doing crafts and decorating cakes. She was a "jack of all trades" in the construction industry. She excelled at using crafty ideas when painting interior walls. DeDe loved the outdoors her entire life. During her school years, she spent her summers working outside at the Pitney ranch. DeDe was an excellent swimmer and water skier.
DeDe married Evan Byers on Nov. 19, 1983. To this union one child, Brittney Ashlyn Byers, was born. After her divorce, she met Max Archibeque. To this union were born Brooke Lynn and Brent Colton Archibeque.
The family lived in Denver for a short time. DeDe and the children returned to Craig where she met Fred Cattoor and married him in 1991.
DeDe was preceded in death by her grandparents, Neil and Dicy Bailey and Ed and Freda Bugay. She is survived by her parents, Ronnie Bugay and Maryann Bugay; husband, Fred Cattoor; children, Brittney Byers, Brooke Sanfratello and Brent Archibeque; three grandsons, Tyler, Compton and Jamen; and two brothers, Edward and Ronald Bugay.
Services were held on July 9 at the New Creation Church with Jason Haskell officiating. Song selections were "Bye Bye," "I Can Only Imagine" and "If I Die Young."
Cremains were interred with DeDe's Grandma Dicy in Hayden.
DeDe was a happy and loving person. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
