Dorothy Lou DuBois passed away on June 29, 2013 in her home surrounded by family. Dorothy was born in Hayden on July 28, 1925 to John and Helen Wadge. The family made their home in Mt. Harris until Dorothy was age 7. The family returned to Hayden where Dorothy attended Union High School. On June 5, 1943 Dorothy was united in marriage to Oren DuBois. They were married for 25 years. In 1947, their son John was born. In 1950, the family moved to Montrose. In 1964, son Todd was born. In 1970, following the passing of Oren and with John serving in the Navy, Dorothy and Todd returned to the Yampa Valley, where Dorothy lived out her life in the family home where she was born.
Dorothy was a homemaker for many years. When returning to work Dorothy was a long time cook for the Hayden School District. Many “kids” still talk about the cinnamon rolls she served in the cafeteria.
Dorothy enjoyed gardening, reading, needle point, flowers and feeding and watching the birds in her back yard. Dorothy cherished her time with family and friends. Her boys took her on numerous car rides. Dorothy was a long-time member of the Hayden Congregational Church.
Dorothy was preceded in death by husband Oren, brother Jim Wadge and cousin, Lois Terry. She is survived by son John and wife Lynn of Emmett, of Idaho, son Todd and wife Tammie, of Hayden, grandchildren Scott DuBois, of Washington, Paige Morgan, of Oregon, April Lopas and Justin DuBois, of Idaho, Jennifer DuBois and Kari Kalar, of Hayden, Kelli Bjorgum of Steamboat Springs, and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were officiated by Pastor Janet Babish at the Hayden Congregational Church on Saturday July 6, 2013. Burial followed at the Hayden Cemetery.
