Joel Crae “Hooter” Clift was born Nov. 27, 1955, in Heber City, Utah, the son of Bill R.and Peggy Gene (Gines) Clift. Joel died Feb. 17, 2013, at his home following a lengthy illness. He was 57.
Joel was raised and attended school in Heber City. He served in the Army and was stationed at Fort Lewis in Washington and in Korea.
Joel moved to Craig in 1978 and was employed as a heavy equipment mechanic at Trapper Mine until his retirement in 2007. He married Linda L. (Foster) Heier on Aug. 26, 2005, in Craig. Joel enjoyed chariot racing, camping, horseback riding and golf.
Joel is survived by his wife, Linda, of Craig; his daughter Angela Bristol and her significant other Danny Ficarra, of Vernal, Utah; his sons Joel Keech Clift and wife Angela, of Alpine, Texas, Matt Clift and his wife Reisha, of Richland, Wash., Josh Clift, of Coalville, Utah, and Alex Clift, of Craig; his grandchildren Billie Jean Clift, Valencia Ficarra, Max Clift, Madison Hale, Kira Bristol, Adrionna Clift, Anayia Bryan, McKinzie Clift, Tristen Hale, Savanna Kroman, Lane Clift, Jet Clift and Brooklene Clift; his father Bill Clift, of Heber City, Utah; his brother Steven Clift and wife Patty, of Costa Rica; his stepson Michael J. Toovey and wife Michele, of Craig; his niece Phoebe Clift, of Crested Butte; and his nephews Cory Bently, of Meadow Vista, Calif., and Brian Clift of, Wenatchee, Wash.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Peggy, and brother Richard Hicken.
Cremation has taken place, and a gathering to celebrate Joel’s life was Feb. 23, 2013, at the OP Bar and Grill in Craig.
