Lester James Welch

February 14, 1957 - May 23, 2012

Lester James Welch was born Feb. 14, 1957, in Scottsbluff, Neb.
He died Wednesday, May 23, 2012, in his home with his family by his side.
Lester was the son of Jack and Laurel Welch and was the oldest of four children. He graduated from Moffat County High School in 1976.
Lester worked for Bill Miles in the oil field, for Yampa Valley Electric and for Moffat County Road and Bridge for the last 20 years.
In 1979, he married Christina Sherman. During their 33 years of marriage, they raised three children, Cori, Sherry and Clint.
Lester’s love of hunting and fishing gave him the opportunity to spend valuable time with his family and friends to do what he loved most.
Several years ago, Lester was able to harvest his trophy elk hunting with his best friend, Tim Miles.
He loved family vacations that were spent sightseeing the great outdoors from camping trips to the mountains to going to Yellowstone National Park and South Dakota.
Lester enjoyed going to work and driving his truck. He spent many hours on the back roads of Moffat County.

He lived his life by his own high standards, always trying to do the best for his family and friends.
Lester was always ready to help someone out with anything and everything within his means. He will be missed by all who have known and loved him.
Lester is survived by his wife, Christina; daughter Corine Kroese and her husband, Donnie; daughter Sherry Welch; son Clint Welch and his wife, Aleshia; grandchildren Ayla, Miken, Brooklynn, Donnie, Avary and Novalee; sisters Barbara Wheaton and her husband, Gail, and Jackie Welch; brother Kenny Welch and his wife, Beverly; father in-law Dan Sherman; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Lester is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Laurel Welch, and sister in-law Debbie Sherman-Hurst.
