Richard L. “Colorado” Cox, of Hot Springs, Ark., died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012. He was 59.
Richard was born Sept. 5, 1952, in Florence, the son of Melvin H. Cox and Helen Woodworth Cox.
On Dec. 19, 1969, he married Sherry Embry. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Harold Cox and James Cox.
He was a longtime resident of Colorado, where he operated two sawmills and a logging operation with his family for 32 years.
After moving to Hot Springs, he worked several years for Don Wright Logging. Later, he became a contract log truck driver in dispatch for Weyerhaeuser until April 2011 when he became too ill to work.
He was a member of the Church of God for 43 years and had been attending the Church of God in Arkadelphia, Ark.
Survivors are his wife of 42 years, Sherry Cox, of Hot Springs, Ark.; sons Michael A. Cox, of Canyon City, and Melvin P. Cox, of Craig; daughters Misty N. Cox and Cynthia M. Cox, both of Hot Springs, Ark.; brother and sister-in-law, Delbert and Cheryle Cox, of Craig; and sister and brother-in-law, Donna and George Griffiths, of Craig.
A services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Hot Springs, with interment in the Kilgore Cemetery in Jessieville, Ark.
Pallbearers will be Misty Cox, Keith Cox, Christopher Wright, Davey Cox, Kenney Bartels and Jimmy Cox.
Honorary pallbearers will be Don Wright, Terry Anderson, Timmy Cox, Gerald Cox and Steven Loy.
