Caroline Winn

Caroline Winn died on Oct. 23, 2011, at her home. She was 95 years old.
Caroline was born Oct. 1, 1916, in Severance to Godfried Benjamin Winder and Anna Brunner Winder. She was raised in Windsor and attended Windsor High School.
She graduated from Colorado State University in 1938 with a B.S. in sociology and a minor in economics. During college, she was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.
Caroline married Gordon C. Winn on Jan. 15, 1938, in Windsor. They moved to Craig in 1939 and were married for 62 years. He preceded her in death in 2000.
Caroline was an avid bowler, golfer, bridge player and gardener. In later years, she enjoyed using the computer to stay in contact with family and friends.
She was a member of the First Congregational Church and Order of Eastern Star for more than 50 years.
Caroline is survived by son, Dennis (Chris) Winn, of Craig; daughter, Cindy (Glenn) Hagen, of Highlands Ranch; four grandchildren, Steven Winn, of Grand Junction, Philip and Stuart Winn, of Craig, and Nathan Winn, of Thousand Palms, Calif.; and several great-grandchildren. Her son, Gordon C. “Chuck” Winn II and wife, Janet, preceded her in death.
A funeral service was held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011, at the First Congregational Church in Craig. Interment followed in the Craig Cemetery.
The family requests that donations in Caroline’s memory be made to the Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice in care of Grant Mortuary, 621 Yampa Ave., Craig, CO 81625.
