Orville Shinn was born Oct. 13, 1928. He died Friday, June 17, 2011.
He was a gentle and wonderful man, a much-loved husband, father and brother.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Christena A. Shinn; children Robert (Cecilia) Carothers, Donald Carothers, Ronald Shinn, Barbara (Mark) Toy and Justin Shinn; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by brothers Milton Shinn, of Bismarck, Ark., and Kenneth Shinn, of Malvern, Ark.; sisters Mrs. M.J. Hess, of Shawnee, Okla., and Mrs. F. Davis, of Bismarck, Ark., and Ms. Thomas Daniels, of Glenwood, Ark.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, the Rev. Daniel and Emma Shinn; and siblings Emuel Shinn, Clifton Shinn, Gerry Stuart and Lorene Ashley.
He was a member of the Acacia Lodge (Masons) No. 243 and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Before retirement, Orville worked at Trapper Mine and Wagner Equipment. He served in the military during the Korean conflict.
He will be missed by all.
A funeral service was Thursday, June 23, 2011, at Grant Mortuary Chapel in Craig.
Pastor Lee Byram officiated. Military honors were performed by VFW Post 4265 and American Legion Post 62.
