Thomas J. Huber, of Craig, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2011, at The Memorial Hospital in Craig. He was 53.
Tom was born Aug. 9, 1957, in Grand Junction, the son of Albert J. and Mary L. (Dunlap) Huber. He was raised and attended school in Montrose and in Craig, where he graduated from Moffat County High School in 1976.
While in high school, Tom was a member of the high school band.
Tom married Debbie Grube in 1979 in Craig, and to this union son Corey was born.
Tom and Debbie later divorced.
Tom built homes and fences and worked at various other jobs during his life, including work in the oil fields in Rangely, surveying in the ice fields in Alaska, working in the peach orchards in the Grand Junction area, cleaning hotel rooms in Steamboat and as a hunting guide.
Tom enjoyed hunting, fishing, building model cars and being with his friends. He was always willing to help anybody who asked for help. Tom loved his family, especially his father.
Tom is survived by his son, Corey Huber; grandson Isiaih (Huber) Herod, of Craig; mother Mary L. Huber, of Grand Junction; sisters Molly (David) Lather, of Salem, S.D., and Elizabeth Huber, of Cleveland, Ohio; brother Charles (Gina) Huber of Cleveland, Ohio; nieces and nephews Heidi, Chris, Allison, Stephen, Blazine and Michael; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Tom was preceded in death by his father, and brother Peter Huber.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service was held Friday, Feb. 4, 2011 with Rev. Michael Rapp officiating.
Tom will be laid to rest with his father in Calvary Cemetery in Grand Junction.
