Keith L. Bockelman, 56, of St. Joseph, Mo., died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010.
He was born April 27, 1954, in St. Joseph, and was a former Craig resident for 24 years before moving back to St. Joseph in 2005.
Keith graduated from Lafay-
ette High School in 1972, where he was in the Lampions Honor Society and was a four-year letterman in football, basketball and track.
He attended the University of Missouri-Rolla, where he received a civil and mining engineering degree in 1978, and has an MBA from the University of Phoenix.
He married Carrie Ann (Babish) McIntosh in 2003, who survives at home.
Keith was a mining engineer for 24 years at Colowyo Kennecott Energy. He left there in 2005 and went to work for WireCo World Group as a product engineer.
Keith was preceded in death by his father, Gene Bockelman; grandparents Al and Sophie Bockelman; grandmother Annabeth Stricklen; and brother Gary Bockelman.
He was a member of the Rolla-Triangle Fraternity, whose mission statement was “To have a better world, we must first have a world of better men.”
He believed in a higher education and enjoyed traveling.
He is survived by his mother, Gloria Jean (Stricklen) Bockelman, of St. Joseph; son Andrew Bockelman, of Craig; daughter Karlie Bockelman, of Boulder; step daughters Jennifer (Mike) Watson, Anna (John) Hawley and Mary McIntosh, all of St. Joseph; five step grandchildren; nephews Lucas (Amber) Bockelman, of Overland Park, Kan., and Bryce Bockelman , of Sacramento; and his beloved walking companion, Cleo.
A memorial service will take place at 1 p.m. Friday at the Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory in St. Joseph, Mo.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory.
The family suggests memorial gifts to a charity of the donor’s choice.
