Calixto O. Zamora, of Craig, died Oct. 28, 2010, at The Memorial Hospital in Craig following a brief illness. He was 79.
Calixto was born Oct. 14, 1931, in the Phillipines, the son of Domingo and Anunciacion (Orbita) Zamora. Calixto was educated in the Phillipines, where he studied surveying at Silliman University.
He married Matilde Alcancia on Oct. 5, 1961. They made their home in the Phillipines until 1991, when they moved to Slater, Colorado.
Calixto worked on the Williams ranch with his son-in-law, Tom Williams, until 1996, when they moved to Craig. While in Craig, he worked at Axis Steel and then Kmart.
Calixto was a very quiet person, and enjoyed watching movies and hiking.
He is survived by his wife, Matilde, of Craig; daughters Rose and her husband, Tom Williams, of Slater, and Mary Ann and her husband, Christopher Abapo, of Manila, Phillipines; grandsons Ken Abapo and Kevin Williams; sister Felisa Zamora, of Dumaquete, Phillipines; and brother Francisco Zamora, of Dumaquete, Phillipines.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Loreta Cornelia, and brother Amado Zamora.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service was Nov. 6, 2010, at St. Michael Catholic Church with Fr. Michael Rapp officiating.
