1943 - December 14, 2009
Charles “Chuck” Fredrick Klesath passed away Dec. 14, 2009, from a sudden illness. Chuck was born on July 9, 1943, in Manhattan, Kan. He graduated from Kansas State University in 1967 and then from the University of Kansas pharmacy school in 1969. He soon moved to South Routt County and Oak Creek, where he started the Good Neighbor Pharmacy. He sold the pharmacy in the mid-1990s and continued to practice his trade, most recently at the Safeway pharmacy in Craig.
Chuck had many hobbies that he excelled at, including tennis, golf, bird hunting, painting and his true love, fly-fishing. He was known to many people and guides as “the floating pharmacist.”
Chuck was licensed to be a flat fishing guide in the 1980s and continued to share his love of fly-fishing and the outdoors with clients every summer. He guided on the Green River in Utah every year.
Chuck is survived by his only living relative, third cousin Bob Klesath, of Papillion, Neb.
He was loved and will be missed by many friends and colleagues.
There will be a celebration of life for Chuck from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Tugboat Grill and Pub in Steamboat Springs. Everyone is welcome to come and share stories. Donations can be made to the Yampa Valley Fly Fishers.
