James Harold Griffin, of Craig, died Dec. 14, 2009, at his home.
He was 45.
Jim was born July 16, 1964, in Onida, S.D., the son of Carlos James and Donalene (Norfolk) Griffin. He was raised in Pierre, S.D., Libby, Mont., and Gillette, Wyo. He moved to Craig when he was a sophomore in high school. Jim graduated from Moffat County High School in 1981.
After high school, Jim attended Wyoming Technical Institute in Laramie, where he was trained to be a diesel mechanic. Jim worked as a mechanic for Tony Balleck, and in 1996 started operating his own trucking business.
Jim enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Owner Operator Independent Driver’s Association.
Jim is survived by his mother, Donalene Griffin, of Craig; sister Darla (Luther) Miller, of Pleasant Grove, Utah; nephews Richard (Mikaela) Miller, of Alpin, Utah, and Michael Miller, of Grand Junction; and his aunt Bertha Klassen, of St. Paul, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his father, Carlos Griffin.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service was Dec. 18, 2009, at The Friendship United Methodist Church with Anna Adams officiating.
