Carmen F. Barrientez, of Craig, died Nov. 23, 2009, at The Memorial Hospital in Craig following a brief illness. She was 73.
Carmen was born Jan. 6, 1936, in Hoisington, Kan., the daughter of Carlos and Virginia (Orozco) Mancha. She was raised and attended school in Hoisington.
Carmen married James Barrientez on Nov. 24, 1972, and they made their home in Rangely and more recently in Craig. Carmen was a member of the Church of Christ and enjoyed being around her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also was fond of her cats and liked working in her garden.
She is survived by her husband, James Barrientez, of Craig; daughters Vera (Dan) Wells, of Craig, Brenda (Warner) Kingsbury, of Silverthorne, and Gail Barrientez, of Henderson; stepchildren Yolanda (Ron) Rathbon, of Lincoln, Neb., and Oxley (Barb) Barrientez, of Craig.
She also is survived by seven grandchildren, Valarie (Tony) Fandel, of Craig; Clint Wells of Superior; Greg (Eileen) Kingsbury, of Silverthorne; Amanda (Zack) Tyler, of Boulder; Matt Adams; Sam Good and Ranee (Dave) Hardesty, of Salina, Kan.; and 12 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial service was Nov. 30 at the Church of Christ in Craig, with Stan Johnson and Byron Barrientez officiating.
