Loreen “Blondie” (Davis) Lyon
November 11, 1927 - December 10, 2010
Loreen “Blondie” (Davis) Lyon was born Nov. 11, 1927, to Abbie Dee and Stewart D. Davis in Ontario, Ore. She died Friday, Dec. 10, 2010, in Fruita.
Loreen was a lifetime member of Craig Christian Church, Maybell Bible Church and Fruita Christian Church.
She attended early grade school in Oregon, and in Hahns Peak, Idaho Springs and Hayden. She graduated from Craig High School in the class of 1945.
She was an active Baton Twirler in high school with the school band. She worked in several stores, including the Craig Drug Store and 12 years for J.C. Penney Co.
On Nov. 17, 1946, she married William “Bill” Lyon. To this union they had two children, Dennis D. Lyon and Denise Kim Lyon.
Upon retirement, Loreen “Blondie” and William “Bill” became snowbirds and spent 15 winters in Yuma, Ariz. In 2001, they moved from Craig to Fruita.
Loreen is survived by her husband, Bill Lyon; son Dennis (Penny) Lyon; daughter Kim Lyon Groth; brother Lloyd (Ruth) Davis; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and a host of relatives and huggable friends.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17, 2010, at Fruita Christian Church, 208 N. Maple St., in Fruita.
