Funeral services for Cleo Irene West Gore, a longtime Dove Creek resident, were Sept. 22, 2009, at First Baptist Church in Dove Creek. Interment followed at Dove Creek Cemetery.
Cleo was born Feb. 26, 1925, in the Battle Rock area of McElmo, in Montezuma County, to J. LeRoy "Roy" and Bessie Lee Wilemon West.
Cleo died Sept. 17, 2009.
Cleo attended early grades in the small country schools in Disappointment Valley and attended high school in both Cortez and Dove Creek.
Cleo married Calvin D. Gore on Sept. 27, 1941 in Dove Creek. They had three children.
The Gores raised their kids in Dove Creek, where they made their home until the early 1970s at which time they moved to the Yampa Valley in northern Colorado, living in Steamboat Springs, Hayden and then Craig where they lived at the time of Cal's death in 1995. Subsequently, Cleo returned to Dove Creek. She was a resident of the Valley Inn, an assisted living facility in Mancos, at the time of her death.
Besides her husband, Cal, Cleo was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, a brother, a son-in-law, two grandsons and one great-grandson.
She is survived by her three children, LeRoy Gore and wife, Joan, and Lynn Smith, all of Dove Creek, and Derwin Gore and wife, Shannon, of Hayden; brother Jesse V. West, of Cortez; seven grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren.
Services were under the direction of Ertel Funeral Home.
