Robert Gurske

Robert Gurske was born Aug. 1, 1943, in Portland, Ore., to Catherine and Pearl Gurske.
He grew up in Gresham, Ore., where he graduated from high school.
He came to Colorado in 1969 to visit his mother, who lived near Steamboat Springs. There, he met and married Helen Backes in April 1970.
Their first daughter, Catherine Gurske, was born Sept. 5, 1970.
In June 1975, their second daughter, Heather Gurske, was born.
In 1979, Robert went to work for the Rio Grand Railroad. They moved to Hayden and made their home there and raised their daughters.
Robert and Helen celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary in April 2000. In December 2001, Helen went to be with the Lord.
Robert met Maria (Lupi) Gillette in Craig in 2003. Lupi and Robert were married Dec. 28, 2005.
Robert retired from the railroad with 31 years in 2006. They moved to Windsor in June 2008.
On Oct. 1, 2009, Robert went to be with the Lord.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Catherine Gurske, and his father, Pearl Gurske; his wife Helen Gurske; sister Loraine Van Dremlin; twin brother Bill Gurske, and older brother, Harold Gurske.
He is survived by his wife Maria (Lupi) Gurske, and her children Vanessa Gilette, Devin Gillette, Amadus Gillette and Crystal (Oscar) Sanchez and their daughter, Elizabeth, all of Windsor; daughter Cathy (Jim) Squires, and their children, Robert and Ashley Squires, of Grand Junction; and daughter Heather (Gabe) Garcia and their children, Kaylee Carson, Cory Carson, Caleb Herndon, Dalfeno Gallio, and Zaquaria Garcia, all of Craig.
